PTC – A MOST POLITICALLY INCORRECT COMPANY

 
Capitol Hill. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 --- A multi-national Massachusetts company is being accused by a Catholic priest of insensitivity, if not bigotry, and indifference to discrimination in its operations in The Holy Land.
PTC headquartered in Needham has incurred the wrath of Fr. Sean Mc Manus, President of the Capitol Hill–based Irish National Caucus. Fr. Mc Manus in 1984 launched the effective Mac Bride Principles  and last month launched the Holy Land Principles – a corporate code of conduct for U.S. companies doing business in the Holy Land ( Israel/Palestine/ West Bank/East Jerusalem/Gaza Strip).
He has written to all 573 American companies doing business there, urging them to sign the Holy Land Principles, enclosing with the letter his Memoirs, My American Struggle for Justice in Northern Ireland … And The Holy Land – which makes the case for both the Mac Bride Principles and the Holy Land Principles.(See below for further information on both sets of Principles).
So far the companies are responding with interest and politeness, except, that is, PTC, which describes itself as, "As one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing technology companies, [that] works with more than 27,000 businesses around the world., [has] 6, 000 employees.”
PTC summarily dismissed Fr. Mc Manus with the extraordinary email missile: "We are not interested. PLEASE remove PTC from all future mailing lists.” (See copy below). This most politically incorrect response  was made on behalf of  Ms. Kristian Talvitie, Vice President of Corporate Communications and – at least in one listing – Investor Relations Contact.
“ I’ve never had such a politically incorrect response from any company, ” explained Fr. Mc Manus. “ Even companies up to their neck in anti-Catholic discrimination in Northern Ireland tried to be diplomatic, pretending to be concerned about fair employment, non-discrimination, and ethical treatment of employees. But PTC, ‘ ARE NOT INTERESTED.’"
Not interested in the Holy Land Principles… Not interested in fair employment in its operations in the Holy Land… Not interested in  how the Mac Bride Principles helped to combat anti-Catholic discrimination in Northern Ireland.
What sort of a message is that to Americans who expect American principles to follow investment? What is that saying to PTC investors?
Fr. Mc Manus continued: “I know this has to be the explicit position of the Company because the rules of the Company state  as its first corporative imperative: "Avoid Misrepresentation: Never make oral or written misrepresentations or dishonest or misleading statements to anyone. If you are unsure of a particular fact, you should first undertake to confirm the information in question before providing it to others.”
