A Deceitful Betrayal
Caucus's first criticism of Bush

CAPITOL HILL. Monday, November 7, 2005--- Making its first ever
criticism of President Bush, the Capitol-based Irish National Caucus
has branded the American -fundraising- ban on Gerry Adams a "
deceitful betrayal".

"What message does this send to American foes and allies alike?",
asked Caucus president, Fr. Sean Mc Manus. " That America does
not negotiate in good faith", he answered.

"Gerry Adams has negotiated in good faith, he's kept his promises,
and now he has been stabbed in the back", continued Fr. Mc Manus.

"Furthermore, the decision is truly puzzle ling. How could they
seriously think that this was the way to get Sinn Fein to back the
Northern Ireland police? Bush's absurd  decision may mend fences
with the anti-Catholic Bob Jones University -- Ian Paisley's
fundraising base in America -- but it will not help to create an
acceptable police service in Northern Ireland. It only means that the
man (Adams) who made the Good Friday Agreement possible is not
permitted to raise funds in America, and the man who has done
everything possible to destroy the Good Friday Agreement (Paisley)
is permitted to raise funds in America. And they say anti-Catholicism
is dead in America?" Fr. Mc Manus concluded.
